mess

raccoon skull, plastic mask, pantyhose, wig, and a chaoflux : 2008
Creepy stuff like this feels so much closer to being my actual face than the one that is attached to my flesh.
I took this picture around the time that I decided that chaoflux was a verb for making a pleasant mess.
I’ve been in sort of a funk the past week, but my living situation is now much more comfortable, and my art studio is much more clearly defined as a work space. I want to find a way to take the summer off so I can just focus on what I’ve already got started in there. Takes so much preperation and energy to make things really come alive.
The artshow party thing is coming up, and I’m actually thinking of making new art for it, although I do still intend to give it away freely. The reality of the situation is that this show is an admission that I’ll never be satisfied with myself as a person or the art I create, so I may as well splay out the mess I am just as simply as possible.
Been having some interesting conversations about myth and magic recently, blessed feeling as I am in the presense of the right people, the ones that transcend personhood.
I got to get back to work now, and do what actually makes me money. This was just a quick aside.
xoxo

Honestly I don’t like making art directly with other people on the same image. And every exquisite corpse I’ve had a part in was less than exquisite at the end of the day. :P sorry pal

Looks like you’ve been studying your Lee Bowery, sir.
Very lovely. All you need is a big handgun and a snorkeling facemask…
